As the deadline approaches, as a reminder of December 31, 2024, the Savoie prefecture is intensifying its efforts to support hunters, sports shooters and weapon holders to comply with current legislation.
These latter must create a personal account in the Weapons Information System (WIS)an essential step to preserve their rights to possess, acquire or transfer weapons.
Currently, more than 7,000 gun owners in Savoie have already taken this step. However, a significant number of users still need to be mobilized. In order to support them, the prefecture sets up local hotlines with personalized support.
Users can go to different centers organized in several locations:
• Chambéry, prefecture : Every Wednesday, from 1:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Digital Access Point (appointment: 04 79 75 52 56).
• Albertville, sub-prefecture : Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Wednesday until 5 p.m. (appointment: 04 79 10 41 46).
• Modane, Cantonal house : Exceptional availability on Monday November 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (appointment: 04 79 75 52 56).
• Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, sub-prefecture : Identical availability in Albertville (make an appointment: 04 79 75 52 56).
The SIA represents a significant advance in weapons management, guaranteeing better traceability and increased security. With this operation, the prefecture hopes to achieve an optimal registration rate, thus strengthening the compliance and responsibility of weapon holders in Savoie.
