Farmers from the FDSEA of Cantal have been mobilized for several days to warn about the Mercosur agreements which, according to them, threaten French production and would cause a form of unfair competition. After changing the names of certain municipalities to replace them with the names of Latin American cities, around 150 farmers lit fires of anger on Monday, November 18.

For the moment, no blocking action is organized in Cantal, but if the agreements are signed, this will change, promises Delphine Freyssinet, secretary of the FDSEA 15: “We are awaiting an imminent response regarding the signing or not of the Mercosur agreements. If it's signed, it's going to be “open-bar”. We are going to show our anger by going even further. Until then, we have remained calm in the department with a tarpaulin action last night and this (Monday) evening, the fire of anger on the Europe roundabout. On the other hand, if Europe has not heard us, we are capable of going further with tougher actions. »

The union plans “punch actions” in the event of an announcement of the signing of the Mercosur agreements, and not only that. “We are able to go en masse to Clermont with record organization time. We already did it. If it goes wrong, we'll do it again.”warns Delphine Freyssinet. While waiting to learn more, the union remains on alert. “We are used to monitoring. We will be ready. The networks are ready. This evening, there are 150 of us in . In Saint-Flour, there are around a hundred of them too. They are ready, they understand the issues. If we have to come out, we will be mobilized. »

Government spokesperson Maud Bregeon promised Tuesday on TF1 that France would continue “to hold a standoff for as long as necessary” with the President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen against this EU-Mercosur free trade treaty. Meanwhile, the Rural Coordination is also increasing the pressure, threatening to take more blocking actions.
