Winner of the France 2030 call for projects “La Grande factory de l'image”, V Studios, the commercial subsidiary of France Télévisions, launched this Friday, November 15, the construction of its new studios in Vendargues (Hérault), near those already existing and 15 minutes from the center of Montpellier. “This is good news which strengthens the Montpellier ecosystem of cultural and creative industries and reinforces our project to make it an international hub,” rejoiced Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region. Larger, more modern, they will be open to all types of French and foreign productions (feature films, fiction, documentaries, video games, advertising films, music videos)and will allow the company managing public television to double its filming capacity on the site.

Jobs at stake

Indeed, France Télévisions will deploy its new infrastructures over 2 hectares, which will be added to the 16,000 m² of studios already present in the same town of Vendargues. The latter, which notably host the filming of the successful series “Un si grand soleil”, broadcast on France 3, have generated “2,500 jobs over more than 63,000 days of work”, assures the public audiovisual group. A figure which should therefore increase significantly since M6 has already confirmed that it will film the set part of its future daily soap opera on the new site. And others will follow.

Delivery of the project in 2026

Initially, two buildings will be erected during 2025, housing four sets of 300 to 800 m², two of which will be accessible to entertainment and streaming productions, and will have a backlot space (adjacent area of the studio, which presents permanent exterior decorations). Offices, dressing rooms, storage and catering spaces are also planned. A third building is still under study. Filming will begin in early 2026.
