AIM for Climate announces 16 active Innovation Sprints in Morocco, guiding investments in climate-smart agriculture and food systems.
The Agricultural Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate), the largest global coalition at the intersection of food security and climate change, led by the United Arab Emirates and the United States and of which Morocco is Country Partner, announced on November 18 nearly double investments, partners and Innovation Sprints in transformative agriculture and climate-smart food systems innovation. The announcements were made during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 29), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the theme “In solidarity for a green world”.
AIM for Climate partners are turning ambition into action, driving innovation in climate-smart agriculture and food systems to tackle the climate crisis, build resilience and deliver co-benefits for people and the planet.
Building on a record year at COP28, investments increased from $17 billion to an unprecedented $29.2 billion, compared to 2020. The addition of 52 new innovation sprints, bringing the total at 129, further highlights the transformative impact of AIM for Climate. With AIM for Climate expanding from 600 to more than 800 partners worldwide, the initiative reflects the urgency and strength of its mission.
The increased investments include $16.7 billion from 56 government partners, including Morocco, and $12.5 billion from accelerated investments from 129 innovation sprint partners, which are driving change in agricultural systems and climate-smart foods.
The growing number of high-impact projects led by the private sector and public-private partnerships are providing solutions to today’s climate and food challenges. Aligned with COP 29 priorities in terms of climate finance, reducing emissions and developing adaptive solutions to loss and damage
linked to climate, these initiatives focus on one or more of AIM for Climate’s areas of intervention: small
farmers in low- and middle-income countries; emerging technologies; agroecological research; and methane reduction.

These initiatives channel crucial investments into climate-smart agriculture and food systems innovation, underscoring the commitment of AIM for Climate partners to strengthening climate resilience and food security in Morocco and beyond.
