Last Wednesday, an ambulance driver had an accident on the A10 motorway near the town of Rouillé (Deux-Sèvres). The man would have fallen asleep during the intervention while he was transporting a mother and her three-year-old son, report our colleagues atActu.fr.

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. While he was transferring the young boy, accompanied by his mother, to the pediatric department of the University Hospital, the ambulance driver, aged 65, allegedly lost control of the vehicle. It rolled over after colliding head-on with the bullnose marker of a rest area.

Paramedic subjected to alcohol and drug testing

The ambulance ended up on its side. Installed in the rear of the vehicle, the mother and her son were seriously injured, but their lives are not in danger. They were transported to the emergency room of Poitiers hospital following this accident. The paramedic and his 29-year-old colleague escaped with some minor injuries.

Evacuated to hospital, the two employees were screened for alcohol and drugs. It turned out to be negative. An investigation has been opened to find out the exact circumstances of the accident.
