Two Valencia municipal police officers are in the hospital this Tuesday evening. They were injured when their car was hit by a vehicle whose driver refused to comply. The Valencia town hall filed a complaint.

The chase begins in the Plan district, in Valence, on Tuesday June 25 in the early evening. Two municipal police motorcyclists try to stop a Mini Cooper, but the driver refuses to comply and flees.

The police crew, four officers on board, who arrived as reinforcements chased the recalcitrant motorist to the village of Malissard, a few kilometers away. There, the Mini Cooper accelerates and hits the police car. Head-on collision: two officers are injured and taken to hospital. They suffer from chest hematomas, muscle damage and skull injuries.

The driver, who had fled the scene, was arrested and taken into custody in the evening, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré. ​​The investigation has been entrusted to the national police. According to a press release from the Valencia City Hall, the man, known to the police, was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“I salute the exemplary courage of our municipal police officers, whose injuries I hope will not be too serious. Once again, they are the ones who went into contact, on the front line, with bravery and efficiency,” adds Nicolas Daragon, the mayor of Valence, who followed all of the operations live.

The city announced that it would file a complaint against the individual.
