If you are from the capital or have already set foot there, we don’t tell you anything: the Paris metro is often crowded. But, among the 397 stations in the RATP network, one of them encounters a very limited number of passengers per day. This is the most deserted station in the capital.

Every day, millions of people crowd onto the Paris metro trains, creating this slightly stifling atmosphere. And it will get worse in a few weeks with the start of the Olympic Games between the massive arrival of tourists and certain closed stations… But, in the middle of this underground agitation, one station seems to be sailing against the tide, since it is now today the least crowded in all of Paris. Each time you pass by, there is a guaranteed seat.

The beating heart of the capital, the metro sees its passengers passing through both sides of the city every day. While some stations, such as Châtelet-Les Halles or Gare du Nord, are teeming with around 700,000 passengers every day, others are more discreet. Located in a quiet area, far from tourist attractions and major traffic routes, this metro station only has 500 passers-by per day! A trifle…

There, the shops are mainly aimed at locals. There are bakeries, delicatessens, and small cafes where customers sometimes know each other by their first name. Almost a village atmosphere right in the capital.

A striking contrast with the rest of the city. But the calm of the neighborhood is not the only explanation for these deserted metro trains. Indeed, the station only has one platform and one track, which thus serves trains in one direction, that of Boulogne Jean-Jaurès. This makes it possible to naturally regulate the passengers who must take this line without overloading other trains.

You guessed ? This is the Église d’Auteuil station on line 10, in the chic 16th arrondissement of Paris. It takes its name from a religious building, classified as a Historic Monument in 2018, a few minutes from the Sainte-Périne park. There Auteuil Brewery, located a few steps from the metro exit, is also one of the trendy corners of the capital for going out to dinner. A base that has it all!
