Underground is digging, going down into the ground and immersing oneself in the depths of distant time and childhood.
“How did it start, and where does it end? Who can answer…”
Two artists delve into the question and guide us into their imagination through tinkered sounds, unearthed objects and other fragile inventions. The voices that speak to us are testimonies of hermits, speleologists, prehistorians, artist-adventurers poetically revealing their underground finds or even “the core of their being”.
Combining documentary, testimonies from enthusiasts, the mystery of cave art and literature, this descent into the caves is a true poetic object for everyone. This eulogy of a buried life is a veritable “gallery” of portraits in an art brut spirit.
And to complete the experience, the Matiloun company invites you to visit the “Souterrain Chronicles” exhibition: a collection of miniature worlds representing the lives of the personalities who testified under a bell jar.
