George Ilenikhena, an 18-year-old Franco-Nigerian striker playing for AS Monaco, was the victim of an attack by four armed men after leaving a party in Essonne.
The international break is calm for some, not for others. George Ilenikhena, AS Monaco striker, was the victim of an attack in Corbeil-Essonnes during the night from Saturday to Sunday, reveals the newspaper The Parisian . The 18-year-old footballer was leaving a birthday party and was driving his car with a friend on board, when four hooded men appeared.
Some were “equipped with handguns according to the victims’ accounts”. Under pressure from the thieves, Ilenikhena gave them “his pair of luxury shoes, his iPhone as well as the keys to his Volkswagen Golf”. But the individuals, while trying to leave with the car, had an accident. They quickly abandoned the vehicle on the spot.
No injury for Ilenikhena
Ilenikhena, who was not injured, filed a complaint the day after the attack. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, the footballer arrived in France at the age of 3 and grew up in Hauts-de-Seine, a Paris suburb. Monaco spent nearly 19 million euros this summer to buy him from Belgian club Royal Antwerp. The center forward has played 14 matches this season including 5 starts for two goals. ASM, runner-up to PSG in Ligue 1, faces Stade Brestois this Friday (7 p.m.).
