The Zurich Supreme Court on Tuesday convicted four employees of the Russian bank Gazprombank in Switzerland for violating their duty of care in connection with the fortune invested by a close friend of Vladimir Putin. She confirmed the first instance judgment.

Clarifications from bank employees regarding the accounts of cellist and conductor Sergei Roldugin were insufficient, the president of the court said at the opening of the judgment on Tuesday morning in Zurich. The musician is considered close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In 2014, he opened several accounts with Gazprombank Suisse (GPBS), through which millions subsequently passed. “There were circumstances which suggested that this may have been straw man financing,” the judge said. Bank officials reportedly did not investigate these clues.
