Less than a year after the mobilization of farmers last winter, new actions are emerging from this Monday, November 18. The FNSEA and the Young Farmers are calling to bring out the tractors and resume demonstrations. They demand compliance with the government's promises to improve their income and ease their regulatory and administrative constraints. Also added is the contestation of the project of Mercosur free trade treaty between the European Union and the countries of South America. Lorraine farmers will respond to this call, but there is no question yet of occupying highways or traffic routesas they did ten months ago.
Fires of anger in the Vosges
The first to get started are the Vosges operators. Since last week, the Young Farmers of the Bulgnéville sector have turned over signs in villages and deployed banners addressed to the government such as “death is in the meadow” or “no to Mercosur, what will become of us ?” This Monday at the end of the day, FDSEA and JA 88 will meet in front of the Vosges prefecture in Epinal and in front of the sub-prefectures of Neufchâteau and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges for wakes and to light “fires of anger.”
Strawman in Nancy
In Meurthe-et-Moselle, the first mobilization will take place Tuesday afternoon in Nancy. Farmers are planning a rally in front of the Prefecture. They will also display banners intended for the government, on the gates of Rue Sainte Catherine. A strawman will also be erected in front of the administrative buildings.
“The goal is not to add chaos to chaos” warned Friday on France Bleu Sud Lorraine the president of the FDSEA des Vosges Philippe Clémentwho prefers “alert but without penalizing our fellow citizens.” While hoping that “the government hears the messages“and does not lead farmers to take action “stronger and more durable.”
