It was a trip that could have ended badly. On the evening of Saturday November 16, 2024, the facade of a house was stamped.
The events took place in Warcq (Ardennes), a town in the suburbs of Charleville-Mézières. Five firefighters from the Ardennes departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) were sent there after a call made at 10:21 p.m.
A victim rescue and assistance vehicle (VSAV) was dispatched to the scene. The house is located on Boulevard Lucien Pierquin, which runs right through this small town of just over 1,200 people (location on the map below).
On site, emergency services had to deal with one of the drivers of the vehicle, aged 34. He was injured in one arm, which required his transport to the Manchester hospital center (CH) in Charleville-Mézières.
According to the press release sent to the editorial staff by the firefighters, a second motorist was alongside him in the damaged vehicle. But the latter fled before the arrival of firefighters and national police officers.
Dispatched to the scene on the morning of Sunday, November 17, Alexandre Blanc, reporter for France 3 Champagne-Ardenne, was able to note that there did not seem to be any traces of the accident. The majority of the neighborhood seemed unaware of precisely where the accident had taken place. The local tow truck was quickly dispatched to remove the damaged vehicle.
The reasons for this accident were not specified by the firefighters. The police refuse to comment.
