The unmissable National Day parade takes place Monday in Montreal. Plan your fleurdelisés… and your umbrellas.

The procession will begin at 1:30 p.m., at the corner of Rachel Est, at the corner of Molson Street. Under the direction of Quebec artist Richard Blackburn, the procession has the theme “a living and festive fresco”.
The traditional parade has nearly 200 years of history, but the experienced artistic director is bringing an original twist to it in 2024. A new route is also planned to “offer a touch of freshness to this emblematic event. »
The procession will wander through the streets of Montreal towards the east, towards Maisonneuve Park, where the great Saint-Jean spectacle is taking place.

Another new feature this year: the absence of allegorical floats. The parade will instead feature acrobats, dancers and musicians who represent the Quebec of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The event is described by its director Richard Blackburn as “a true living fresco, an ode to tradition, to modernity, and above all, to the joy of living which pulses in the heart of every Quebecer. »
Rain or shine, the festivities will take place. Despite clouds on the horizon, organizers maintain that no changes are planned for the moment. Crowds are therefore expected in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district to celebrate Quebec.
