Friday June 14, the Marcellin-Berthelot college in Bègles rewarded several of its students who distinguished themselves in the Plumier d’or competition. A French language competition intended for students in 4th gradee public and private colleges in France and abroad, which is organized by the Defense of the French Language association and on the occasion of Francophonie Week.

A competition marked based on exercises on syntax, spelling, vocabulary, general knowledge and written expression. Due to the Olympic Games, this year’s subject was: “Team sport or individual sport, whether you are an actor or a spectator, what is your preference? »

The young Camille Terrat, student of 4eC, which was ranked 15e of this competition among 22,000 participants and 60 winners. She went to Paris, to the National Maritime Museum for an official awards ceremony on June 5. She was accompanied by her mother and her French teacher, Madame Mays.

The French language in the spotlight

A second ceremony was therefore organized at the college where she was able to be surrounded and congratulated by the principal of the establishment, Madame Ulysse. Also present were Madame Lobry from the IA-IPR de Lettres, Thierry Vautrin, youth coordinator for the city of Bègles, Benoît d’Ancona, municipal councilor, Madame Jaffrès, college manager, French teachers from 4e, Mesdames Coindreau, Estrade and Mays. Other of his comrades who distinguished themselves in the competition were also congratulated.

This ceremony was also an opportunity to highlight several educational projects around reading and the French language in middle school such as “Always a book in my bag”, “Discovering the world of books” or the project of Nino Zelaya Ouvrard, student of 6e in the establishment: “A book box for my college” which was selected as part of the call for projects organized by the Bègles Town Hall and the Estey social center.
