Floods

A “heavy rainy episode” affected the Loiret until Saturday. The municipalities of Ingrannes, Fay-aux-Loges, Donnery, Mardié and Chécy were particularly monitored, due to the rising waters of the Orléans and Cens canals. Although a cycle route was closed and many basements flooded, no evacuation of the population was necessary. And on Sunday, the situation gradually improved thanks to milder weather.

Racism

On Saturday, the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, reacted strongly to the racist remarks which were broadcast two days earlier in the program “Envoyé Spécial”, and which were allegedly made by an official of the Montargis court. Considering that these comments were “absolutely unacceptable”, Eric Dupond-Moretti requested a report with a view to obtaining the “suspension” of the official in question.

Around 750 protesters took to the streets of Orléans during the demonstration for women’s rights and against the far right on Sunday. The organizers recalled the rights of women defended: right to vote, right to freely live one’s sexuality, right to work, right to have children, right to change gender, right to have a bank account, right to a salary equal…

Judo

He is a figure from US Orléans, twice winner of the Paris Judo Tournament in the early 1980s, and multiple French champion in the under 60 kg category. Guy Delvingt, 65, will return to service with the French team, we learned on Sunday. He will be the assistant to Baptiste Leroy, the men’s manager, during the Paris Olympic Games.

Empty in the individual event in the middle of the week, Manon Apithy-Brunet and Cécilia Berder, the two saber players from the Cercle d’Escrime Orléanais, won the European team title on Saturday in Basel (Switzerland). Caroline Queroli, their club partner, remained in the stands.

The second edition of the “Le cherry tree of Saint-Hilaire 2024” competition took place on Saturday, at the intergenerational house of Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Mesmin. A meeting proposed by the Anne-et-Siméon intergenerational house, in collaboration with the town hall, the Orléanais hotel high school, the cherry brotherhood, the festival committee and Crédit Agricole. After finishing second to last during the first edition of the pastry competition “Le cerisier de Saint-Hilaire”, in 2023, Mathilde, Constant and Gatien won the prize this year, thanks to their “p’tits cherry-chocolate pots “.
