The Spanish Jovesólides association welcomed, on Friday, the active solidarity of Morocco which mobilized a significant logistical system to support relief efforts in areas affected by the recent floods which affected the Valencia region (East).
The president of this most important association in Valencia, Lourdes Mirón, expressed her gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI for Morocco’s support for Spain during this difficult ordeal that the Valencia region is going through.
“I would like to thank Morocco for its great contribution to the clean-up efforts and operations aimed at returning to normal in the localities affected by the floods,” she said in a statement to MAP.
The president of Jovesólides, who coordinates the solidarity actions of volunteers in one of the most affected areas, welcomed the “fraternal and exemplary gesture” of the Sovereign in support of relief efforts in the affected areas.
This mobilization is “eloquent proof of the deep ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries”, she continued, also welcoming the mobilization of the Moroccan community in Spain to come to the aid of the affected populations.
Following the floods which ravaged several regions of Spain, His Majesty King Mohammed VI had given His Very High Instructions to the Minister of the Interior to speak by telephone with his Spanish counterpart and inform him of the full provision of Morocco to dispatch relief teams and provide all the necessary assistance to Spain to deal with this natural disaster.
An exceptional Moroccan convoy, mobilizing 24 pumper trucks and 70 operators, arrived in Spain on Wednesday to support relief efforts and come to the aid of the Valencia region, seriously affected by storm Dana.
