The subject of illegal occupation of land by travelers has been at the heart of debates in for several years. There grumbling of the mayors has increased in recent weeks, driven by local figures such as the mayor of , François GROSDIDIER, and the MP Nathalie COLIN-OESTERLÉ, who questioned the Minister of the Interior, Bruno RETAILLEAU, on this issue.

The latter, who came to Metz to meet his territorial services, took the opportunity to address the local press. The subject quickly came to the table. “In the Republic, everyone must be able to choose their way of life, but illegal connections or uncontrolled installations are not tolerable,” declared Bruno RETAILLEAU, who is committed to setting up a new firmer doctrine against illicit installations.

He wishes to draw inspiration from methods that have proven their effectiveness in each department to provide a harmonized and more effective response across the national territory. A prefect will be responsible for coordinating this new strategywhich must be ready before spring, and quickly lead to a strengthened legislative framework.
