It’s D-Day. At the end of a long season, which began at the end of August and punctuated by a Regional 1 championship title (group A), Cormontreuil FC is playing its very last official match this Sunday (4 p.m. climb to National 3 in Sarreguemines. Including the Stade de la Blies will be decked out in blue, a week after beating Illzach Modenheim on penalties. Who lost 2-1 two weeks ago in Marne. CFC coach, Jérôme Dutitre understands the importance, “historical », the stakes for his group and the club.

Are you going to Sarreguemines with a little advantage in terms of mental and physical freshness?

It’s been a long season for all three teams. Not playing last weekend allowed the players to recover and also get some fresh air with their families. They were very busy on the weekends. It’s good for mentally recharging the batteries.

You play your season double or nothing, in one match…

Which is regrettable, with today’s descents from N3 (the case of Reims Sainte-Anne), for administrative or financial reasons, they could have brought up at least two of the three teams. It’s really difficult for the players, who are asked to be first and they haven’t been able to experience it directly. It’s also difficult for the club, for whom it will be a first in N3, in the event of a climb. It would be a real shame not to succeed in one match. What is certain is that we must win, before or during the penalty shootout.

Sarreguemines has the chance to play at home too…

We will have to take this match as a final, away. We are not going to calculate and will give everything over 90-95 minutes. I have total confidence in my players, who had a very good season. It won’t be easy because we will meet a good opponent, it will be a good match.

What do you know about them?

This team is having a great run in the championship, like Illzach, scoring a lot of goals (82, 67 for CFC; 24 conceded, 12 for CFC; two defeats, one for CFC), especially with its striker (Enes Sahin, 33 goals half April !). We will have to be vigilant but it is up to us to provide our usual service.

You led Reims Sainte-Anne to accession in June 2022 in a somewhat cleaver formula. Can this help your group, partly made up of ex-Rémois?

It was less complicated since three teams out of four went up, but we can establish the parallel. Recruitment was also done with this in mind, we needed boys who had had this experience and progressed to the next level.

An experience that could count during this decisive match…

With Sainte-Anne, it was great. There, Cormontreuil also has young elements – four five from 2004-2005, plus the goalkeeper – who play regularly in the squad, unlike the very experienced group from Sainte-Anne. This is not insignificant, with a big season in the end. Now, yes, you have to win.
