The Olympic Flame will travel along the Loire via Roanne, Charlieu, Montbrison, Feurs, Saint-Chamond, Firminy and Saint-Étienne, where it will conclude its journey at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium with a great celebration. The Olympic Flame will begin its journey in the Loire with the historic town of Roanne, before reaching Charlieu in front of the Benedictine abbey. It will then continue to Montbrison, Feurs, where it will pass by the national racecourse, and Saint-Chamond. Firminy will be the next step, with relays within the Le Corbusier site, the largest architectural ensemble in Europe designed by the French town planner.

The day will end in Saint-Étienne. The Saint-Etienne route will begin at the Planetarium, continue to the Couriot Mine Museum, then to the Cité du Design. Finally, the Flame will return to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium for a festive celebration where the Olympic cauldron will be lit.

The celebrations in Saint-Étienne will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on the square in front of the Geoffroy-Guichard stadiumwith sporting and cultural events organized by communities and the Sponsors of the Torch Relay. At 7:20 p.m., the arrival of the last torchbearer will mark the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, a moment not to be missed. The 11 crossing points in Saint-Étienne, including the planetarium, the Museum of Art and Industry, and the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, will be animated by sporting, cultural and musical activities.

  • Parking will be prohibited on the route on June 22, and traffic will be closed one hour before the arrival of the flame, gradually reopening after its passage.
