Ideas for activities for National Day in the region

Granby

On June 24, it takes place at Daniel-Johnson Park in Granby. The traditional fireworks display is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., while the hot air balloon flight is scheduled for 7 p.m., two hours before the main show featuring popular singer-songwriter Émile Bilodeau. He will take the stage with Maude Audet and Granby native Miro Belzil. Rapper Calamine will take care of their opening act, while DJ L’Isle will be on the decks at the end of the evening.

The festivities will begin in the afternoon when several family activities will be offered.

Representatives of the Brotherhood of the Giant Omelette of Granby expect to use 10,000 eggs to prepare the famous dish. Active since 1988, they should also receive a visit from their counterparts from Louisiana!

The free shuttle service will be available to relieve congestion in the area. It will connect Daniel-Johnson Park and the Galeries de Granby parking lot between noon and midnight.

Roxton Pond

Roxton Pond meets citizens at the municipal beach on June 23. The municipal swimming pool will be accessible from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. while inflatable games will be available from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Nadia Waltz show (6 p.m.) will kick off the festivities. At 8 p.m., the PL Belval – Tailgate Radio show will warm up the crowd before the fireworks planned for 10 p.m.

Waterloo

The City of Waterloo and the Maison de la culture de Waterloo (MCW) have announced that the national holiday will be celebrated at the municipal beach (15, rue du Lac) on June 23.

The MCW is signing for the first time the musical programming for the evening’s show which will feature emerging Quebec artists:

  • 7 p.m.: Bermuda
  • 7:50 p.m.: Malaime Soleil
  • 9 p.m.: Alex Burger
  • 10:15 p.m.: Fireworks

However, the site will be ready to welcome the Waterlois from 1 p.m. On the menu: inflatable games, water games, area for toddlers run by the Maison desfamilies de Granby et region – Espace famille Waterloo, as well as several other activities offered by Waterloo organizations and businesses.

The municipal beach parking lot will be closed for the day. As the options are very limited in the surrounding streets, two alternative parking lots will be made available to festival-goers:

  • Parc du Carré Foster, corner of Dalton and Foster streets, within walking distance of the beach
  • Aréna Jacques-Chagnon, with a free shuttle service during the event.

Citizens are encouraged to leave their vehicles at home and go to the party by active transportation, on foot or by bike.

Bromont

There will be action at the Place publique starting at 4 p.m. on June 23. Starting with a line dancing session at 4:30 p.m. A show by the Winston band is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., before the show by comedian Martin Vachon at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks (10 p.m.) will be preceded by a show by Édouard Lagacé (8 p.m.).

Families can go to the Germain-Désourdy Campus from 11 a.m. to take part in the Abeille Beausoleil show. Several activities are planned. The afternoon will end with a Samajam show (3 p.m.).

Cowansville

The festivities will launch on June 24 at 4 p.m. at the Cowansville Nature Center. On site: inflatable games, face painting and shows. The evening will begin with Eli Woods (7 p.m.) and continue with Rafaëlle Roy (8:30 p.m.). Alexe will be the guest artist. The fireworks will end the evening at 10 p.m.

Farnham

The celebrations will launch at 1 p.m. at Roch-Bourbonnais Park on June 23. A family zone has inflatable games and entertainment for the little ones (from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and face painting (from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). A spectacle of La Grande Messe – the Ultimate Tribute to the Cowboys Fringants will take place at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks (10 p.m.) and a bonfire (10:30 p.m.) will follow. The La Grande Messe show will then continue.

Bedford

Heritage Park will host the national holiday on June 24. Several activities are planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inflatable games will be available all day. Music will be provided by DJ Steve Marchessault from Radiobm.ca until 2 p.m. Before dinner (from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at a cost of $10), a mass is planned (10:30 a.m.). From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., singer Jean-Philippe Tétreault will get citizens moving.

Acton Vale

In Acton Vale, the national holiday will take place on Friday June 21 at Donald-Martin Park. In case of rain, the event will take place at the sports center (arena).

A bar and a canteen will be on site. The evening will be launched by the group La gang de ciboires (tribute to Plume Latraverse). Fireworks and a bonfire are planned for 10 p.m. In case of rain, they will be postponed until June 30. The Bonté Divine group (tribute to the Cowboys Fringants) will continue the festivities, followed by Double Jeu at 11:30 p.m.

Brome Lake

Lions Park will be the preferred location to celebrate National Day in Lac-Brome, June 23 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Yan the magician will offer a show at the end of the afternoon. Randolph will offer giant board games. Several other activities will be offered: inflatable games and water games, karaoke, outdoor games, face painting, clowning and painting on stones. Food and refreshments will be available.

Marieville

The festivities will begin at 1 p.m. on June 24 at Sainte-Marie-de-Monnoir Park.

Several activities will be available: urban beach, inflatable games, introduction to gymnastics with Gym-As, etc. There will also be two food trucks, an alcoholic beverage kiosk and a candy kiosk on site.

From 7 p.m., we will give way to the show Percussion with Sarah Laflamme. The group Les Frogs — who will offer a 100% Quebecois show — will follow at 8 p.m. The evening will culminate with fireworks at 10 p.m.

A free bus transport service will be available continuously every 30 minutes between 1 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. with three boarding and disembarking stops:

  • Mgr-Euclide-Théberge School (677, rue Desjardins)
  • Convent Gardens (425, rue Claude-De Ramezay)
  • Neptune Park (rue de Neptune).
