A new list from the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) was released this Friday, June 21. Among those selected for the Paris Olympic Games, in table tennis, Montpellier Alexis Lebrun joins his brother Félix.

The fight was intense until the end between Alexis Lebrun and Simon Gauzy, for the second and last spot to compete in the Olympic singles tournament.

Félix Lebrun (5th in the world) and recent unfortunate finalist in Ljubjana had been assured of his presence at the Olympics for some time. His older brother Alexis had to fight a long-distance duel with Toulouse’s Simon Gauzy in recent months. The recent tour in the Balkans between Zagreb and Ljubjana was successful for Alexis who scored a double victory in the Croatian capital.

Alexis Lebrun in full confidence

In singles, for his first title on the circuit, against the Japanese Shunsuke Togami (4-1) but also in doubles with Simon Gauzy against the Polish pair Dyjas-Kulczycki (3-0).

Having moved up to 19th place in the world, Alexis, three-time French champion, is confident and will compete well in the Olympic singles tournament alongside his little brother Félix, the best non-Chinese in the world rankings.
