Morocco was honored, Thursday, June 20, with the guest of honor award at Cinema Europe 2024 in Spain.

A representative from Morocco represented Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication to receive the distinction during the Cinema Europe awards ceremony held at the Barcelona International Conference Center ( CCIB).

This recognition crowns the efforts made by Morocco to promote culture and the arts in general, and cinema in particular.

According to the organizers, Moroccan cinema is currently experiencing a period of renewal and expansion, with many projects under development, including the opening of new cinemas. Morocco was invited as guest of honor to present its film sector at Cinema Europe.

Mr. Phil Klaff, president of the UNIC group, the professional association of European cinema, welcomed the announcement of the award by declaring: “We congratulate the Moroccan Minister of Culture for obtaining the guest of honor award from Cinema Europe 2024. This distinction, the first of its kind, testifies to the vitality of cinema culture in Morocco and its strength of innovation, which has inspired audiences around the world. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to celebrate the richness of Moroccan cinema on the international stage. »
