The organization of such an evening sparked strong criticism from the socialist mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol. This event “has nothing to do in Rouen, nor anywhere in Europe. I have contacted the prosecutor, the prefect and will take my responsibilities. Racism, xenophobia are the mark of the extreme right. Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol sent a letter to the public prosecutor of Rouen under article 40 of the code of criminal procedure according to which “any constituted authority, any public officer or civil servant who, in the exercise of his functions, acquires knowledge of a crime or misdemeanor is required to give notice without delay to the public prosecutor and to transmit to this magistrate all information, reports and acts relating thereto.
