the essential
Thursday, November 14, at the Oustal high school in Villleneuve-sur-Lot, a teacher received a blow from one of her students. The latter was placed in police custody.
It must have been a very ordinary workout. But this Thursday, November 14, at the Oustal high school in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, around 3:15 p.m., a physical education and sports (PE) teacher was attacked by a student. The teenager, born in 2009 and in third grade, was quickly arrested in front of the entire class. A scene that left its mark on the students present. He was then placed in police custody at the Villeneuve police station. The professor, aged 58, was transported to the Villeneuvois health center. She was hit in the sternum.
An exercise in question?
The circumstances of the facts are still quite unclear. The affair has already had its first echoes in the playground. At the end of class, several students testified: “According to what I was told, it happened at the end of the sports class. It was an acrosport exercise that he couldn't do it and he got angry. Another boy in the class made fun of him and they started fighting. I was told that it was when she tried to intervene. a punch in the stomach.” Others knew by sight the student who “was discreet, but had problems”.
On the management side, Christel Fugit-Dulout, the head of the establishment, wants to be firm: “This is a totally intolerable act and I will take the necessary disciplinary measures. This student will not set foot in the school again. “We cannot accept this kind of slippage, even if we have personal problems.” A position supported by MP Guillaume Lepers, who assures that “things will be done according to the rules of the art by management. We must show young people, as well as parents, that the sanctions are falling.”
The parliamentarian advocates “zero tolerance”. “I ask for firmness, it is unacceptable to attack a teacher, adds the latter. They are there to work in good conditions. Especially since I know the establishment well. Many young people have handed in the foot in the stirrup thanks to the dedicated teachers.”
Gérard Regnier, the mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, also commented on this affair and shared his incomprehension. “These are increasingly common occurrences,” declared the councilor. “I thought it was unimaginable in our small towns. We will soon no longer be able to do it,” the mayor slips, stunned. “However, I do not yet have the context, the young man is heard, which will help clarify the gray areas.”
The particularly shocked victim
The teacher, who was transported to the Villeneuvois Health Center (PSV), said she was “particularly shocked”, as were her colleagues from the teaching staff of the vocational education establishment. Classes resumed after the incident and should, in all likelihood, continue this Friday, November 15. The director assures that “the teaching team will be present to answer any questions and concerns”. Finally, a student confided: “We saw that the teachers were shocked. But now, that’s already in the past.”
