BEAUNE: 2023 vintage, volumes that reassure the markets

As expected, the volume of the 2023 vintage reached a historic record, the equivalent of 253 million 75 cl bottles. Enough to appease the markets.

If, since 2008, Burgundy has experienced significant oscillations in yield, the generous 2023 harvest increases the average of the last 5 harvests, this however remaining below the mark of 1.5 million hectoliters for nearly 32,000 ha of planted vines.

Estimated at almost 1.9 million hectoliters (equivalent to 253 million bottles), the 2023 harvest demonstrates the great production potential of Burgundy, when the conditions are right:
• + 9% compared to the 2022 harvest
• + 29% compared to the average of the last 5 vintages (2018-2022)

This windfall benefits all Burgundy wines, either by color:
• White wines: 1 122 124 hl, excluding VAT (+ 5% / 2022)
• Red wines: 518,846 hl, excluding VCI (+ 9% / 2022)
• Vins rosés: 5,563 hl, hours VCI (- 2% / 2022)
• Crémant de Bourgogne: 253,265 hl, without reserve (+ 32% / 2022)

Reassured by 2 generous harvests (2022 and 2023), this start of the 2023-2024 campaign is off to a slow start, whether for the upstream market or for the French and international markets. Sales will be made based on needs and not out of fear of lack.
