It took eight months of investigation and four waves of arrests. Between Thursday September 19 and Tuesday November 12, 2024, the Loches gendarmerie (Indre-et-Loire) arrested around twenty people suspected of being involved in drug trafficking in the area, details The New Republic .
Seven incarcerations after the raids
Ten of the suspects were indicted and seven were placed in pre-trial detention, said a source close to the police. The trafficking involved different types of narcotics, indicates the local daily. LSD, cocaine, cannabis resin and heroin were seized by the military during searches in Loches, Beaulieu-lès-Loches, Nazelles-Négron, Azay-sur-Indre (Indre-et- Loire), Bourges (Cher) and Châteauroux (Indre).
The gendarmes also discovered a firearm, thousands of euros in cash, around twenty mobile phones, but also Subutex and tobacco in bulk resold by another run by a young resident of Loches. Around sixty soldiers, including members of the GIGN, were mobilized during the four operations. The authorities were pleased to have succeeded “a resounding dragnet”.
