This weekend will be very lively Dieppe (Seine-Maritime). After the music festival this evening (see our edition of June 18), it’s time for the sea festival for two days, this Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23.

With a first meeting that promises to be spectacular. Saturday, from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., the French Navy helicopter, the Cheetah W will in fact fly over the outer port of Dieppe.

He will come specially from Le Touquet where he is based to carry out a helicopter hoisting demonstration with the rescuers of the SNSM, the National Sea Rescue Society of Dieppe. They will be aboard their Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours canoe.

To be in the front row and not miss a moment of the show, the public can sit along the west pier.

Musical wandering

Then it’s time for musical entertainment with, from 5 p.m., a stroll by the Boa Brass Band on the Quai du Carénage. The evening will continue under the tide hall with a ball hosted by the Captain Java orchestra. It will be followed by a torchlight procession.

The next day, Sunday, the moment will be more solemn with, at 10 a.m., a mass dedicated to sailors in the presence of the Polletais and the herring and scallop brotherhood. Always faithful to tradition, they will carry models of boats during the procession which will take place under the tide hall.

Blessing and sea shanties

The boats, the big ones this time, will leave the port at 12 p.m. to the sea songs sung by Les Gabiers from Le Havre. After the blessing at sea, return to dry land and under the tide hall to listen, at 2:30 p.m., to the Threat of thinning fanfare and at 4 p.m., The Recast.

The Dieppe philatelic association and its cartophile section will join in this celebration by promoting the SNSM and the Colbert bridge currently being restored, through the issue of four philatelic souvenirs: a personalized stamp of the all-weather canoe SNS 080 Notre-Dame -de-Bonsecours station; and three postcards with a different stamp on each card and special illustrated cancellation 06/22/2024 76 Dieppe; they represent the transport of the Colbert bridge to reach the site of its restoration, the little Dieppe canoe Alabaster Coast wooden, classified as a Historic Monument in 1998, and the SNSM all-weather canoe.

The Dieppe Philatelic Association stand will be set up on the Pollet peninsula, Quai du Carénage, Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Sea Festival Saturday June 22 from 3:30 p.m. and Sunday June 23 from 10 a.m. on the Pollet peninsula in Dieppe. Free entertainment.
