An eventful night for a crew from the Évry-Courcouronnes – Corbeil-Essonnes anti-crime brigade. Called to intervene for a burglary in a meeting in a transport company road in Ris-Orangis (Essonne) on Saturday November 9, 2024, the group of police officers saw one of their own being struck with blows of crowbar by one of thieves.
The events happened shortly after midnight, in the Bois de l’Épine activity zone. When the police arrived, they came face to face with the burglars.
Injured hand, police officer had to undergo surgery
“When one of the perpetrators of the burglary was arrested, the latter grabbed a crowbar and struck an officer several times in the face and hand,” indicates a police source.
The attack is not without consequences for the police officer targeted by the blows. The latter suffered from significant bleeding wound at hand level.
According to this same source, a officer's hand muscle was severed and the injury required surgery the day after the incident. As a result, the police officer was given 15 days of total incapacity for work.
The alleged perpetrator of the violence placed in pre-trial detention
As for the perpetrator of the blows, he could have been arrested by the colleagues of the injured police officer.
Presented for immediate appearance at the Évry-Courcouronnes judicial court, the 32-year-old defendant was placed in pre-trial detention, the case having been postponed to the hearing of January 17, 2025.
In a message published on Facebook, the Un1té 91 union salutes the “professionalism” of the crew and wishes a “speedy recovery” to the injured police officer.
