This Wednesday, train traffic between Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes) and was interrupted for several hours following a collision. In fact, a car parked on the rails was hit by the train, report our colleagues from The Ardennes. The 26-year-old driver is still alive.

At the end of the morning, a train, traveling on the section between Charleville-Mézières and Poix-Terron, faced a car stopped on the Saint-Pierre-sur-Vence level crossing. The train did not have the necessary distance to brake. It stopped a kilometer away.

30 passengers evacuated

The young woman extracted herself from her vehicle before emergency services arrived. She was transported to Charleville-Mézières hospital. The circumstances of the accident are still unknown. This incident forced the 30 passengers to evacuate the cars. The latter were transported to their destination using buses chartered by the SNCF.

The tracks were closed for a good part of the afternoon for cleaning and checks. Several railway agents were also deployed to speed up the maneuver. Train traffic finally resumed normal around 6 p.m.
