Dakar, Nov 13 (APS) – The Minister of Health and Social Action, Ibrahima Sy, announced, Wednesday, an envelope of 30 billion intended for the Single Shared Patient File project as part of the digital health system.

“An envelope of 30 billion will be released to start the Shared Single Patient File digital health system project,” declared the minister during a press briefing to share his results in 6 months at the head of this ministerial department. .

The digital platform called “Single patient file” will allow the saving of the patient’s health data by facilitating communication between practitioners.

According to him, the government wants to “initiate in-depth reforms of the health system and social action so that it is resilient to move from curative health to preventive health”.

The ambition, he stressed, is to make Senegal a regional health hub. ”Our wish is to have an inclusive social protection system. Which implies an increase in the number of qualified health personnel,” he said.

To materialize these ambitions, Ibrahima Sy has defined “urgent actions”. “We are going to put in place an assistance system to raise funds to meet our health challenges,” he announced. In this regard, a program is planned to adapt the national health and social development plan.

In the outlook, the health geographer foresees the preparation of the new health sector policy and a prospective evaluation of the 1998 hospital reform.

In this sense, it is planned to “revise the health card which needs readjustment so that it is better in line with the health needs of the populations”, which will allow, according to the minister, “to hold the general states of the health”.

Ibrahima Sy also announced in his presentation that “the signing of decrees implementing the social orientation law is included in the urgent actions” of his department.

He recalled that “the national budget cannot take on all the concerns of the health sector (…)”.

Faced with this situation, the Minister of Health is counting on “an activity to mobilize social action funds”. “This will constitute catalytic financing with the State but we will work with partners to help populations have access to insurance and finance non-communicable diseases,” explained the minister.

According to him, this project will “support the process of rehabilitation of health posts and centers” through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He announced that 330 million CFA francs are planned as part of the Consolidated Investment Budget (BCI) to enable the construction of 10 health posts in Senegal.

339 contract agents recruited including 152 medical and paramedical staff

As part of providing the health system with quality human resources, 339 contract agents were made available to the ministry, including 152 medical and paramedical personnel, he said.

It is planned to ensure “the availability of tests” for emerging diseases like Covid 19, said Ibrahima Sy, noting that Senegal is faced with the re-emergence of diseases like Covid-19 and the increase in non-communicable diseases.

The Ministry of Health and Social Action plans to implement the project to identify biomedical research in Senegal, he concluded.
