Vitaa talks about her complicated relationship with her body that she “never loved”

On November 22, a documentary dedicated to Vitaa will be broadcast on TMC. The singer will talk about her long and successful career, but will also talk about more complicated moments, such as the relationship she has with her body.

In 2006, the French discovered Vitaa when she sang with Diam's on Nocturnal confessions. A title which will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary and which continues to enjoy great success. From there, she released albums and tours. Despite complicated periods in the early 2010s, she relaunched her career by joining forces with Slimane, shortly after her participation in The Voice. The duo then became very popular. This association was only temporary since they announced the end of this collaboration during the NRJ Awards 2021.

Vitaa, severe with her physique: I never loved myself at all

Since then, Vitaa has continued to stand on its own two feet and still enjoy enormous success. To celebrate this great career, TMC is broadcasting a documentary on November 22 entitled My name is Charlotte. The cameras followed the singer in her life as an artist, mother and woman. In an extract shared on social networks, Vitaa talks about her relationship with her physique. I never loved myself at allshe indicates, “I have been much rounder in my life“. At 41, she remembers being a much heavier weight than she is today: I was 15 to 20 kilos heavier than my current weight. And when she looks in the mirror, Vitaa cannot break away from the past. “My brain got stuck on this physical appearance I had“, she admits.

Those around her think she has a “disease” : “We don’t realize what it’s like to face criticism”

Those around her are certain, she is very (too) strict with herself: “People tell me, 'you have an illness, you don't see yourself as you are'”. If Vitaa cannot accept herself, it is because of notoriety and its negative aspects. “When we're not constantly in the spotlight, we don't realize what it's like to face criticism.the comments, the insults, everything you can receive when you are a public figure“, she explains. Reactions and complexes which are not always understood by those around her who live “in the shadows” : “When you live it and you don't like yourself, it's actually harder.”
