The Universe Gallery of the Maison de la presse will welcome, from Saturday November 16, Christiane Ego, who will exhibit her watercolors and pastels. This artist from Gournay has never exhibited in the canton of Argenton before.
However, we were able to discover his work this summer at Gargilesse, as well as, like every year, at the medieval tower of Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre. Christiane Ego also won several awards: a first portrait prize, in Saint-Florent-sur-Cher (Cher) and the poster prize, in Nohant.
Color above all else
It was in retirement that the artist began her artistic practice, first with oil, then she developed a passion for pastel and, more recently, for watercolor. « Watercolor is fresh and lighter »comments Christiane Ego.
His work is generally figurative but the artist says he is currently making a shift: « More and more I go towards color, shape matters less. » Her work has also followed an evolution: Christiane first tried her hand at portraiture, with success, then turned to still lifes and recently, has been producing reproductions of landscapes outdoors and no longer in the studio. .
This watercolor and pastel artist has participated in numerous group exhibitions but today prefers to exhibit alone. « Above all, I am looking for contact, I want to establish a link, but this is not possible when several artists exhibit at the same time, in the same place. »confides Christiane. A proximity which gave him the chance to sell one of his works to a painter and to know one of his paintings had gone to Canada: « It opens doors for me »she adds with satisfaction.
Christiane Ego will give a pastel demonstration
But Christiane Ego's artistic activities do not stop there, since she also practices patina on wood as well as sewing, mainly bags and textile creations. « I like the diversity »comments the artist.
And, obviously, the work too! Not to mention that the watercolorist regularly organizes introductory pastel courses and, for this reason, is required to train herself. What she says she does with joy: « Above all, I like to learn and train. I did numerous internships with the great pastellists of France. » Moreover, on Saturday November 16, she will host a demonstration of creating a pastel landscape at the exhibition gallery.
The works of Christiane Ego exhibited at the Maison de la presse will not always be the same: they will be « rotating tables »according to the artist's formula.
