Audi officially lifts the veil on a car that was promised a few months ago. In fact, the manufacturer presents thee-tron GT 2025, its performance electric car. Faithful to the promises made, the brand with the four rings unveils an improved version of its electric Gran Turismo; it benefits from developments also applied to the Porsche Taycan GT Turbo with which it shares the J1 platform.

A more efficient battery for increased autonomy

At the heart of this update is a new battery whose usable capacity increases from 84 to 97 kilowatt hours (105 gross). Thanks to an optimized chemical composition and mechanical improvements such as the addition of cooling plates between the cells, Audi claims that the 2025 e-tron GT will benefit from a more efficient and 9 kilo lighter battery than the previous model. . If the EPA approved autonomy has not yet been communicated, Audi announces a maximum autonomy of 604 kilometers, according to the WLTP cycle.

The Audi e-tron GT now offers three trim levels: S, RS and RS Performance. All benefit from an improved interior, redesigned sports seats and the Virtual Cockpit which displays more information on the battery. The entry-level S version offers 148 horsepower more than the current version, or 671 horsepower. It promises acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers/hour in 3.4 seconds as well as better energy recovery when braking.

The RS versions, a first for an Audi EV, stand out with their more aggressive appearance, 21-inch rims and even more breathtaking performance. The RS promises 845 horsepower, while the Performance version delivers 912 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers/hour in 2.5 seconds. The Audi e-tron GT RS Performance is the most powerful car Audi has ever released.

Faster, more efficient charging

The DC charging speed also increases from 270 to 320 kilowatts. More importantly, the battery can now reach its peak charge in a wider temperature range that goes down to 15°C. So, at maximum power, charging from 10 to 80% is completed in 18 minutes, which allows you to recover 280 kilometers in just 10 minutes.

The standard steel suspension has been tweaked with new dual-chamber, dual-valve shock absorbers providing a wider operating range between comfort and handling, according to Audi. The active anti-roll suspension presented by the Porsche Taycan is offered as an option. The optional 4-wheel steering is combined with an even more direct rack for the front axle. In short, the manufacturer used several technologies from the Taycan GT Turbo.

Prices are still not known for Canada. We will have to wait a few months to know when the first copies should arrive in the country.
