Give your old toys a second life and show solidarity. This is the concept of the “Let your Heart Speak” operation : a large solidarity toy collection across France. In Essonne, the SIOM of the Chevreuse Valley associates with ecosystem et Ecomaison to make three collection points available to residents from November 16 to 23, 2024.
All toys are accepted as well as disguises, puzzles
At the Pierre Seghers media library in Igny, at the Hautes Garennes social center in Palaiseau or at the Marché du Parc in Gif-sur-Yvette (only on Saturday November 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), families can drop off at these points collecting all their unused toys, with a view to their reuse or, failing that, their recycling.
Having become an annual event, this operation allows young and old alike to make a gesture of solidarity and good for the environment, on the occasion of European Waste Reduction Week.
All unused toys are accepted, whether electrical, electronic, wooden, construction, society, fabric. Not forgetting the costumes, puzzles, dolls, etc. which are also welcome as part of the collection.
Toys given or sold at solidarity prices to low-income families
All donations will be entrusted to Emmaüs Longjumeau to then be sorted, tested, completed, cleaned and refurbished, with a view to being offered to low-income families or resold at solidarity prices, as Christmas approaches.
Electric and electronic toys that cannot be repaired will be taken care of by ecosystem, and the other categories of toys will be entrusted to Ecomaison, to be recycled in strict compliance with environmental standards.
The big solidarity toy collection “Let Your Heart Speak” blows out its 15th candle in 2024.
Organized throughout France, previous editions have collected more than 18,650 hoods, i.e. the equivalent of 292 tonnes of games and toys.
Promote environmental awareness
“This operation is a example of circular economy on a territorial scale. Our mission, which consists of extending the lifespan of electrical equipment, involves in particular the development of initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of electric toys,” comments Laura Chech, spokesperson for the operation, in a press release. at ecosystem.
“Each year, more than 100,000 tonnes of non-electric toys are thrown away in France. This operation shows the general public that'a second life is nevertheless possible for these millions of toys, adds Matthieu Goutti, head of the Toys sector within Ecomaison.
“Let your Heart Speak” thus aims to raise awareness among French people of all ages to the gesture of solidarity donation, reuse and recycling.
For the eco-organizations initiating the operation, environmental awareness also and above all involves the everyday gestures, within the reach of young and old alike.
