The temperatures are starting to seriously cool down, no doubt, winter (already) approaching quickly in the Oise! Like every year, the Departmental Council, which manages a network of more than 4,000 kilometers of roads, triggers its winter service plan.
From November 12, 2024 and until March 17, an organization and adapted measures will be put in place “in order to offer safety conditions and optimal circulation over the entire departmental network, facing the risks of snow and ice »indicates the Departmental Council.
50 salt spreaders, 250 agents, 8,000 tonnes of salt…
For four months, significant human and material resources will be mobilized 24 hours a day. The salt spreaders will, for example, be equipped with a GPS guidance system.
“The driver follows the recorded navigation instructions. Thus, its spreader applies the pre-entered parameters, without any intervention from the driver being necessary”, underlines the Department, which wishes to “facilitate the work of agents and secure their missions”.
50 salting sets (truck, salt spreader and blade), 19 tractors dedicated to loading salt, some of which are equipped with a snow removal blade, 19 brine manufacturing facilities, 10 patrol vehicles equipped with on-board probes and 8,765 tonnes of salt are notably ready to intervene on the roads in the event of snow or ice.
18 new smart salting boxes
“This year again, 250 agents, including 100 on call 7 days a week and 24 hours a day during the winter service period, will ensure the watch patrolsthe salting and the snow removal roads”, highlights the Oise Departmental Council.
For the 2024/2025 winter season, 18 new boxes intelligent salting systems “are being installed” on the vehicles concerned “thus allowing a 100% equipped fleet”.
