The magnificent piece The Circle of Dead Poets is currently to be discovered at Free Theater until December 31. Victim of its success, the play will then be extended at the Théâtre Antoine from January 4, 2025, with a new cast.

Adapted from the cult American film by Tom Schulmanthe play brings to life the story of John Keating and his students, with a staging of Olivier Soliveres. New dates always announce to the casting the great Stéphane Freiss in the role of John Keating. Charismatic and iconoclastic character, John Keating is performed to perfection by the actor. The troupe of young actors, remaining identical, will not disappoint you either, their performances are impressive.

The piece obtained 2 Molières during the 35th edition of the ceremony on May 6, 2024:

Our review:

A marvel! In the magnificent Théâtre Antoine, the exceptional troupe, the brilliant staging and the more than effective scenography, take away our time for 1h30; and we wish it lasted longer! L'French adaptation of Circle of Dead Poets of Gérald Sibleyras, directed by Olivier Solivérès, is absolutely a must see.

The play begins with a musical pre-show, with the actors inviting to dance the spectators on stage while the audience settles down, an introduction alive et successful. The show begins, we dive into the world of a boarding school reserved for boys and we are presented with the famous Professor John Keatingskillfully seated in the audience. We quickly become attached to the young men whose story we follow and we are dazzled by the fairness of the game of the troop. Stephane Freiss is exceptional in the role of teacher charismatic and cynical. The staging ofOlivier Solivérèsbeyond being very well thought out with rolling desks, stands out for its dynamism and aesthetics.

This comedy drama highlights a troupe of young actors, notably Ethan Olielnominated for Molières 2024 for the male revelation prize, in the role of Niel. Ethan Oliel plays the role of a young man dreaming of being an actor, but cornered by his father into a medical career. The actor is breathtaking and plays his complex role to perfection, filled with joy and sadness. To name just one, the different actors Hélie Thonnat (the endearing Tod), Audran Cattin (the rebel Charlie, nominated for Molières 2024 for male revelation ), Maxence Seva (Gary, the intellect), Pierre Delage (the awesome Meekx), Maxime Huriguen (Richard, the lover) are impressive.

We are guided throughout the piece by the Latin expression Carpe Diemet the wave of revolt initiated by the Professor John Keatingreaches us too. A brilliant and moving speech on the meaning of life.

The show ends, the troupe triumphs in front of a full, standing room, a well-deserved triumph.
