It’s time to take to the streets to give voice or instrument. The 2024 Music Festival, this Friday, June 21, will not fail in the tradition of offering a giant stage to amateur artists. In Poitiers, as in previous years, stages are set up in different parts of the city.

The public will be able to stroll through the streets, in the squares, at the foot of the terraces… The party will start at noon in places (in front of the CCAS rue de la Marne with the rock of the Chanterie), but the vast majority of musicians will take place in the middle afternoon and until 1 a.m.

Downtown

The Square de la République, rue Magenta, from 3 p.m. welcomes the Oxalys brass ensemble. We will also see the music of the CEP, preceded by the flamenco of dancer Christine Pascault.

On Place de Gaulle, two stages will be set up: the Syrinx musical workshops will present their different groups in front of the tourist office, from 5 p.m. to midnight. On the tile side, it will be the Pictavia music united stage from 4:40 p.m. (rock, rap, metal, punk, etc.). Note the African percussions and dances of Dieufe Dieule at 7 p.m. on the square in front of Notre-Dame. Traditional dance also for amateurs, at 7 p.m. at the top of rue de la Cathédrale.

On Place Leclerc, only one concert is planned at 7 p.m. in front of the Miroir (with Stress Hydric) and the Batucabraz fanfare is announced in front of the town hall.

At Blossac Park, music will take center stage from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kiosk and from 4 p.m. to midnight at the Grand Pré (electro).

Note the saxophone at the Tison island at 5 p.m., a women’s choir at the Sainte-Croix museum at 8 p.m., rock at 7 p.m. at Square Jeanne-d’Arc and New Orleans jazz on rue Paul-Guillon at 5 p.m. 30.

In neighborhoods and bars

The neighborhoods are not left out with the mobilization of associations. We will listen to music on the Bel-Air market square from 4:30 p.m. (open stage), at the Saint-Éloi storm basin at 5:30 p.m. (gospel), in front of the Saint-Cyprien shopping center in 7 p.m. and at Couronneries at 7 p.m., at 1, rue Alphonse-Daudet (gospel).

Several bars have planned concerts: the Republic Corner, Hologram, the Locomotive, the Baffalou, the Biblio café, the Envers du bocal, the Appart, without forgetting the establishments on rue du Chaudron d’Or for a big DJ set .
