Violence and drug trafficking: 4 arrests in Longueuil during a major police operation

Four people were arrested Wednesday morning in Longueuil in connection with violent events and drug trafficking.

Police officers from the City of Longueuil Police Service (SPAL) and its Tactical Intervention Group carried out a major police operation in five residences starting at 4 a.m.

Narcotics were also searched.

Those arrested will face charges including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and drug trafficking.

Numerous violent events have occurred in recent weeks in Longueuil, including shootings, stabbings and drug trafficking.

“All this is part of the mandate that SPAL had given itself in order to reassure its population,” explains SPAL spokesperson Ghyslain Vallières. We wanted to regain control of our streets so that they would be calm.”

“It is a good example that the SPAL has respected its commitments to the population and we will continue to do so,” he adds. The message is clear. If crime wants to persist in this sense, the SPAL will be there and will put an end to their operations.

Another major police operation that occurred at the beginning of May allowed the police department to catch eight other suspects.

In total, around ten weapons were seized in the territory of Longueuil during these interventions in recent months.
