Since 2013, the World Ski Awards have annually recognized the best organizations in the ski tourism industry around the world with prizes. The 2024 winners were revealed this Monday, November 11, with more than 1.8 million internet votes from 85 countries counted.
For the ninth time in 12 years, the highest resort in Europe has once again been voted “best ski resort in the world” and “best French resort” for the twelfth consecutive year.
Awarded among 24 candidates
The Savoyard ski resort, located at an altitude of 2,300 meters, was nominated for prestige with 24 other candidate resorts spread all over the world, from Canada to South Korea.
“It is an immense pride for us and a recognition of the hard work of our teams and the unique spirit of Val Thorens, a huge thank you to the women and men who make our beautiful destination shine day after day,” said the station on Facebook, in reaction to receiving the award.
And the resort did not stop there in its collection of awards of the evening since the Pashmina Val Thorens hotel won the global distinction of “best boutique ski hotel in the world” and the Fitz Roy hotel is he left with the trophy for “best French ski hotel”.
News that comes at the right time for the resort, a few days before the opening of its ski area, scheduled for Saturday November 23.
