Intimidate, not kill

Dylan D., accused of being the author of the fatal stabbings, confessed to his involvement on January 7, 2021, a little more than three months after the events. A second accused, Yasser A., confessed at the start of the trial, this Monday, November 4. “I decided to tell you the truth. I am sorry and I offer my condolences. I will answer all your questions“, declared Yasser A. who until then had always denied the facts. “I have remorse. It was a despicable act, but I was blinded. Today, I don’t even know why I agreed to do that“.

Yasser A. notably claimed to have acted under the orders of Youssef A. who allegedly offered him 4,000 euros to “intimidate” Frank Goes. Not feeling capable, he called on Dylan D.

An influential entrepreneur killed in the street, on the orders of one of his competitors?

Faced with these cascading confessions, Youssef A. defended himself, explaining that they were fabrications on the part of the other accused. But during the hearing on Tuesday, November 12, the man ended up confessing. By delivering “his” version of the facts.

“I’ll explain.”

“I will explain the story to you, he began. Mr. Yaser A. approached me several times to find out if I didn’t have work for him.”. He will end up giving him a mission, says Youssef A., namely to intimidate a competitor who has become too troublesome: Frank Goes. Although he admitted having offered the sum of 4,000 euros for this work, Youssef A. insists: there was no question of killing anyone. “I’m ashamed. I ask for forgiveness”, he added.

Brussels Assizes: one of the accused was filmed in front of the victim’s offices

Two other individuals are also being prosecuted in this case. If they are still in denial at the moment, it is not impossible that they too will end up “going to the table”, as they say in the jargon. It remains to be seen if this succession of confessions will have an effect on the sentences that the accused will receive, if the principle of “fault confessed half forgiven” will be verified…
