Far° unveils an abundant menu for its 40th anniversary which will take place from August 8 to 18 in Nyon (VD). The performing arts event is structured around a plurality of “bivouacs”, imagined as so many spaces for celebrating together and rethinking the world. It brings together 34 projects, totaling 125 artistic events of all kinds.

From August 8, the far° takes over the city of Nyon. In the streets, a photography exhibition will offer an insight into the history of the festival. Maëva Longvert’s large, colorful birds will mark several places in the city. A collective will take the public for a dance walk in the city center and a big offbeat boom will liven up the heart of the festival on the last Saturday evening.

Ten creations and six Swiss premieres will be presented during the eleven days of festivities. The selected projects – also called bivouacs – are all shelters, refuges, places of passage and collective breathing in which art becomes an act of resistance, a fertile breeding ground for hope and convictions, the organizers explained on Tuesday in a press release.

Course

The far° team, led by its director Anne-Christine Liske, offers routes to travel through the programming. For example, it will involve questioning our ways of inhabiting the earth, looking at what surrounds us with concern or even hearing intimate and political stories that shake up. Through a multitude of artistic languages, such as dance, music, performances, theater or various installations.

To open the program to as many people as possible, far° offers a “family” course as well as a “relax” course. A recommended age is indicated for each performance.

New meetings

A new meeting and discussion format is set up around certain shows. An introduction will be offered beforehand, then a meeting with the artists at the end of their performance.

Finally, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the performances on Wednesday August 14 will be free entry, subject to availability. Another new feature, an unlimited pass for 150 francs has been created.
