Air quality is degraded this Tuesday, June 18 in Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The entire Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is affected by an ongoing episode of increasing ozone levels.

Wednesday June 19, “a sustained southerly wind should bring desert particles to the entire region” announces Atmosud, the regional air quality observatory. The areas where the impact should be the greatest are the coast, the Rhône valley and the foothills of the Alps between Mercantour and Gap. For this day, the information-recommendation threshold for fine particles is triggered for all departments in the region.

The Hautes-Alpes prefecture recalls the health recommendations: “Avoid practicing intense physical or sporting activities. Choose outings that are shorter or require less effort. Avoid high-traffic areas during peak hours and limit travel that may occur. Respect the ban on open burning. Postpone agricultural spreading of fertilizers and tillage.”

If you are undergoing medical treatment or experience respiratory or cardiac discomfort, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
