“The GWAMAGWI COORDINATION will continue its international offensive at the UN to have Guadeloupe, and Guyana re-listed on the list of countries to be decolonized” – #Corsica

(National Unity – International Struggle – Published on November 12, 2024) Delegations of anti-colonialist organizations from Guyana, Guadeloupe and participated in this meeting which was held in on November 9 and 10.

Here is the text common to anti-colonialist organizations:

After a first meeting held in Martinique, in April 2024, the GWAMAGWI COORDINATION, which brings together the French colonies of Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana, held its second Conference on November 9 and 10, in Guyana.

The dense and fraternal exchanges which took place between our organizations show very clearly that our three nations are going through a systemic crisis of French colonialism which manifests itself in ways and with an acuteness corresponding to the particular situation of each of our three peoples.

The phenomena of high cost of living, extreme food dependence, poor development, poverty, massive unemployment, pwofitasyon, dispossession of our lands, financial asphyxiation of our communities, poisoning of our people with chlordecone or mercury, colonization and brutal repression of popular protests are the consequences of a retrograde system that has lasted too long.

The GWAMAGWI COORDINATION thus lends its full support to the struggles waged in Guyana, Guadeloupe and Martinique for the improvement, in all areas, of the living conditions of our different peoples and against the flagrant injustices which strike our compatriots on a daily basis.

These misdeeds of the colonial system cannot, however, find viable solutions in the illusion of greater integration into and a deadly assimilation contrary to the right of our peoples to self-determination.
Only the path of national sovereignty and social emancipation of the peoples of Guyana, Guadeloupe and Martinique will allow us to access development corresponding to our needs, the dignity and the development of our peoples.

At a time when in our countries and in Kanaky or even in Corsica as well as in Polynesia French colonialism is strengthening its claims to keep us under its yoke at all costs, the GWAMAGWI COORDINATION calls on all the popular parties and organizations of Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana, who have proven themselves in numerous battles, to consolidate their unity and do everything possible to break the French colonial system.

Furthermore, GWAMAGWI provides its full support to the Kanak youth and people engaged in the march towards national independence.

On the international level, our Coordination denounces the maintenance of the criminal blockade against Cuba by the United States of America and decides to take concrete initiatives to come to the aid of the Cuban people after the passage of Hurricane Rafael and strengthen medical cooperation with Cuba.
We equally clearly condemn the crimes of the Zionist State of Israel perpetrated against the Palestinian people in Gaza and against the Lebanese people. We demand the creation of a viable Palestinian state within internationally recognized borders.

Finally, the GWAMAGWI COORDINATION will continue its international offensive with the UN and regional cooperation bodies, particularly in the Caribbean and South America, to have Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana reinstated on the list of countries to decolonize.

Like the FLNKS, our Coordination will work to obtain observer status in international bodies where this will be both possible and consistent with the needs of our fight.
The Third GWAMAGWI COORDINATION Conference will be held in April 2025, in Guadeloupe.
