Candidate in Sarthe for the legislative elections, Marie-Caroline Le Pen affirmed on Tuesday “not to have been parachuted”. Marine’s sister recognized the “help” that her name can bring her.

“Being called Le Pen helps.” Marie-Caroline Le Pen, sister of Marine and candidate of the National Rally in the legislative elections in Sarthe, assured this Tuesday, June 18 that she “had not been parachuted”, recognizing however that her surname could “help” her to convince voters . The eldest of Jean-Marie Le Pen’s three daughters, aged 64, is running in the fourth constituency of Sarthe, of which former Prime Minister François Fillon was the deputy.

“I’m not from here, I’m not going to lie, but I’m responding to the call of activists” of the National Rally (RN), declared the regional councilor of Île-de-France and until then unsuccessful candidate to the legislative elections in Hauts-de-Seine and Yvelines. “I don’t have the feeling of having been parachuted in, I was not parachuted in against people’s opinions (…) I have the consent” of the activists, she said. .

“Of course, being called Le Pen helps.”

The outgoing MP for the fourth constituency of Sarthe, Élise Leboucher (LFI), who is running under the label of the New Popular Front, denounced on the social network Marie-Caronline Le Pen, for her part, castigated an “extreme left” with “assumed anti-Semitism” and which “calls to kill Jordan Bardella”, the president of the National Rally.

Returned to the party in 2016

At odds with her family after joining Bruno Mégret’s National Republican Movement (MNR) in 1988, with her husband Philippe Olivier, Marie-Caroline Le Pen was then reconciled with her and returned in 2016 to the National Front, which became the National Rally two years later. His daughter, Nolwenn Olivier, is the ex-partner of Jordan Bardella, who covets Matignon in the event of his party’s victory in the legislative elections.

Across Sarthe, the RN came first in the European elections on June 9, with 35.87% of the votes, ahead of the majority list and that of the PS-Place publique. The fourth constituency of Sarthe almost overturned RN in the 2022 legislative elections.
