After the recent deaths of Michel Le Maoult and Claude Forthomme, this is a third former mayor of Livry-sur-Seine, Michel Blanchouinwhich in turn disappears.

The honorary mayor from this village in Seine-et-Marne – he had carried out three terms – died at home of a heart attack on Saturday June 15, 2024. He was 80 years old.

Born in Melun and living in Livry-sur-Seine since 1975, Michel Blanchoin, initially a teacher, had spent most of his career at the Vaux-le-Péni college, as a teacher of material and technical education.

“A left-wing sensibility”

“Elected in 1977, he was the first thirty-year-old mayor of the town and also the first mayor with a left-wing sensitivity, recalls Philippe Bailly, former municipal councilor. He had a social fiber and was at the head of a young team with a new vision for Livry. »

“I am in his lineage,” underlines the current mayor, Régis Dagron. The first time I heard of him was in the years 76-77, when I was at the office of the French Communist Party section in Melun. He was elected as part of the common program of the left. He fought to keep public services, including The post office And the train station. »

The people of Livry also owe Michel Blanchoin important projects: Elementary school of rue des Chanois, the school catering service, the opening of the bakery, etc. He also created a youth commission and then a municipal youth council. And it is through his will that, from 1980 to 2000, a primary school class was able to go to a discovery class each year.

“This period was also marked by his opposition to the various attempts to impose on us a bypass route from Melun, crossing our woods, continues Philippe Bailly. He had the support of his population. »

During his mandate, the membership of Livry in the district of the Melun agglomeration, embryo of the current Melun Val de Seine, allowed the municipality to benefit from the coach service and to host various events such as concerts or even Painters’ Sunday.

Funeral

Having become a simple citizen again, Michel Blanchouin remained very involved in village life. As a designer and manufacturer, he was heavily involved in the stained glass associationbut also in that of Livry Gardens. He was also president of Arval (Association for the renaissance of the vine in Livry).

“He was a colorful man, with a fierce sense of humor,” emphasizes Régis Dagron. He had quite a presence and I really liked him. He will leave a big void in the village! »

His funeral will take place at the Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry crematorium, this Thursday, June 20, at 2:45 p.m.
