The Chinese company Hainan Airlines already linked Brussels to Shanghai between October 2017 and autumn 2019. The relaunch planned for March 2020 was thwarted by the health crisis. Since Tuesday, Hainan has been flying between the two cities again, four times a week.

The resumption of the connection represents “an important step which will further strengthen the economic and cultural links between Belgium and China”, rejoiced the CEO of Brussels Airport Company, Arnaud Feist, during the festive reception of this first flight. With this new connection, Hainan Airlines connects Brussels-National airport “to the three largest cities in China”, he welcomed.

Hainan already flew daily between Brussels and Beijing, as well as three times a week to and from Shenzhen. From now on, every day there are two direct connections in each direction between Belgium and China.

Other offers should soon be added as the company Juneyao Air announced that it would launch flights between Brussels Airport and Shanghai three times a week in July.

Since mid-March, Belgian passport holders can travel to China without a visa for a maximum period of 15 days. This measure is valid until the end of 2025, indicates the FPS Foreign Affairs on its website.
