A terrace perched on the seventh floor, to reach seventh heaven. Reference in terms of chic in the City of Lights, the institution of Silver tower now inaugurates a rooftop hidden during months of work, soberly titled “The Roof of the Tower”.
A breathtaking view of Notre-Dame
Downgraded to one star in 2006, the gourmet restaurant La Tour d’Argent continues to attract passers-by from the Latin Quarter and international clientele thanks to fine cuisine of which we will only mention the duckling Mazarine, the truffled sole fillet or the Matignon veal grenadin. There it is correct outfit required for the chance to taste one of the most 320,000 bottles of great wines which make up the cellar of the house. Excellence obliges, the institution saw a parade of historical figures pass by, Henri III, Richelieu, Sacha Guitry, Alfred de Musset, John Kennedy…
… who would jostle at the gate to be able to sit on one of the tables which sit on the new terrace of the premises. It must be said that there, the new products come one after the other and are not the same: after having launched a Sunday brunch signed the chief Yannick Franques (11 a.m.-4 p.m., €65 per person), a beautiful green terrace is now open to the public. Its main asset remains its breathtaking view on the Seine, its riverboats and the quays of Saint-Louis Island which surround it, supplemented by a high end card.
Cocktails, wines, cigars
Among the creations to sip, four signature cocktails exclusives created by the Tour’s mixologists, each between €23 and €26: the 7th Floor (lavender, intense savanna, white dolin), the Sunset (rhubarb, Merlet vine water, noilly prat dry), the Strawberry in Paris (strawberries, hake bitters, sab’s la fine) and the Bee my baby (pollen, white wine, BK from a spring glass, yellow Gauloise). Added to this is a fine selection of champagnes, white, rosé and red winesand above all, several snacks to fill their bellies, they also signed Yannick Franques.
We stay at the Silver Tower: the spreadable vegetables are 28€, and the Oscietra caviar from Sologne, accompanied by blinis and heavy cream, costs 180 euros. Even fancier, theassortment of cigars to the names of South American countries. An exceptional place to try after dark for special occasions.
