Organized by Cimade, an association of solidarity and political support for exiles, the Migrant'scène festival is back for a ninth edition in Orne to discuss and reflect on the issue of migration in France and around the world. Many events are on the festival program from November 16 to December 8, 2024.
A film debate and an exhibition
The activities will begin on Saturday, November 16 in Alençon (Orne) with an “African Ajak Day”, to celebrate the twinning between Alençon and Koutiala at the Peace Hall in Perseigne. At 9:30 a.m., the documentary N° 387which traces the journey of scientists helping exiles in Greece and Italy, will be screened in the presence of its director, Madeleine Leroyer, for a film debate.
On the Flers side, the exhibition First looks at Franceby Afghan artist Fayaz Mayeel, can be visited from November 15 to 30 at the Flers media library. The opening will take place on November 19 at 5 p.m.
Theater, cinema and music
Numerous film screenings addressing the issue of exile will take place in the department's large cities. In Alençon, the documentary Stone, Leaf, Gun will be screened at Planet-Ciné on November 18, at 8:30 p.m. On November 26, a screening around the series of short films Lost hearts will take place at the Aveline media library at 8 p.m. The Hind Kadanka Band will be in concert at the Halle aux Toiles on November 23 at 8 p.m. in support of Sudanese exiles. Finally, on December 8 at 3:30 p.m., the stage of the Théâtre du Tiroir-de-Laval will host the play Ubu in Africa.
In Flers, the documentary Midnight Traveler will be screened on November 19 at 6 p.m. at the media library. At the cinema 4 Vikings, another documentary, What can I hope for?will be screened on November 28 at 8:30 p.m. The Étoile cinema in Mortagne-au-Perche will broadcast Abou The King November 19 at 2 p.m. Finally the movie The Story of Souleymane will be screened on November 25 at the Rex cinema in Sées at 8:30 p.m. and on December 5 at 8:30 p.m. at the Ferté Ciné cinema in La Ferté-Macé.
