At the end of a chase in the streets of the capital, four men, whose faces were hidden, managed, this Monday at dawn, to escape the police officers from the anti-crime brigade who were pursuing them. The police surprised them at the very location of their crime: the Louis Vuitton store. (which belongs to the LVMH group, also owner of Parisien-Aujourd'hui in France) from Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris (6th arrondissement).
It is this same business, specializing in luxury leather goods, which was the target of a car-ramming attack on September 30. Same procedure? Apparently yes.
What exactly happened? Around 4:30 a.m., a ram car rushes into the store. Several shelves were looted, according to a source close to the investigation. A security guard was reportedly threatened, but managed to raise the alarm.
When the anti-crime squad arrived on site, the police spotted a black Audi A6 with four men on board. The thugs set off in a hurry, go up the boulevard, take the Pont de Sully (4th – 5th) and turn right onto the Quai Henri IV (4th).
The thieves intentionally crash several times in order to be hit by the police car. At one point, the rear passenger rolled down the window and tried to spray the police officers with a fire extinguisher.
The hunt continues. The thieves walk along the Seine, pass the Forensic Institute and find themselves on the expressways. On the A4, near the intersection with the A86, the Audi is lost from sight.
An investigation into organized theft was opened by the Paris prosecutor's office. The public prosecutor handed the case over to the banditry suppression brigade.
