During the first week of November 2024, on the roads of the gendarmes checked more heavy goods vehicles than usual. A vast operation prepared for several weeks was orchestrated. She spoke as part of a campaign called “Clean territories”.

Targeted trucks

This is a national action, launched by the gendarmerie. To carry it out, the police carried out various actions throughout the department, all supervised by the Environmental damage investigation group (GIAE).

In this context, the gendarmes of the recent Merville-Franceville-Plage brigade intervened, supported by two investigators from the Environment and Health Command (Cesan). Roadside checks targeted trucks to “verify compliance with waste transport standards”, according to law enforcement.

“Little known to the general public, the problem of waste trafficking nevertheless remains a important concern for the authorities“, they say. “Often linked to very lucrative and organized international networks, they unfortunately also have serious consequences on the environment. »
