Busy weekend for firefighters in the Pays de Savoie

Road accidents in Annemasse and Aime, rollovers on the A41 and the tragedy at Haut-Giffre… The firefighters have increased their number of outings in recent hours.

The weekend was obviously marked by the death of a runner on the Haut-Giffre ultra trail (and two other seriously injured trail runners), but the Haute-Savoie firefighters also intervened in a fatal accident in Annemasse. In Savoie, road accidents have occurred in Aime or Aix-les-Bains.

A motorcyclist loses his life in Annemasse

A new fatal accident took place on the roads of Haute-Savoie this weekend. He is a motorcyclist who lost his life in Annemasse. The collision with a car took place Sunday afternoon on Avenue Charles de Gaulle. The driver of the two-wheeler did not survive while his passenger was injured and taken to Annecy hospital. An investigation has been opened.

Barrels on the highway in Aix-les-Bains

The firefighters were also called to an accident during the night from Sunday to Monday on the A41 motorway between Chambéry and Annecy. A single car involved rolled over near Aix-les-Bains around 3 a.m. The exact conditions of this road exit are currently unknown. The 21-year-old driver was slightly injured. The Savoie firefighters took care of her before transporting her to Chambéry hospital.

A serious accident in Aime

A serious road accident also in Aime in Savoie this Sunday. It occurred on the national 90 very early in the morning. Two cars collided head-on. There are two injured, one of whom is in serious condition. A third victim has also been reported following another accident in the same area. Traffic was disrupted while emergency services intervened in Aime.

Big intervention also for our Geneva neighbors

This is one of the first major interventions of the summer for the Geneva firefighters on the Rhône. They deployed a major device Sunday afternoon following a call from a witness. The latter explained that he saw arms waving on the surface of the water before disappearing. A team of 25 rescuers therefore went to the site. The dam was also closed to reduce the flow of the Rhône. But in vain, the searches yielded nothing and the device was lifted. The emergency services point out that the water is still very cold at this time, barely more than 10° and that the currents are strong. Be careful then!
